The current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 places specific responsibilities on The Client, The Principal Contractor, Contractors and all Designers. Appointing a Principal Designer can be of benefit on a project.
Where there is more than one contractor on any project clients must appoint a competent Principal Designer to ensure that all duty holders and associated Health and Safety matters are put in place during the pre-construction phase.
The Principal Designer must have the knowledge and experience in the design of buildings and be fully conversant with the current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
